Originally founded in 1977 as Continental Tool Co. the company specialized in microwave-related precision machining and manufacturing of special purpose tooling, assembly and test fixtures. In 1981 Continental Microwave Co. was founded and focused on passive microwave components. In 1982 the two companies joined forces to become Continental Microwave & Tool Co., Inc.
An Era of Continued Growth
By 1987, due to expanded offerings and additional manufacturing requirements, CMT assembled a team of engineers and moved into a modern, custom-designed 40,000 square foot facility.
In 1996 CMT became a member of the Chelton family of companies. Chelton Microwave Corporation (CMC) is the world leader in passive integrated microwave subsystems. CMC is part of the Cobham Group, headquartered in the UK.
In 1999, CMT moved to a larger facility. This 80,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility was designed for manufacturing efficiency and material flow. An additional 30,000 square foot off site storage allows for increased stock cutting and raw material inventory.
In 2001, Chelton Microwave acquired the assets of the Microwave Products Division of Airtron. These combined resources offer customers more products, services and opportunities than ever before.
